Lessons I have learned from both sides of the stretcher.
I have a unique viewpoint, having treated life-threatening injuries in the UK while working abroad in hostile environments and receiving life-changing injuries whilst serving abroad as a combat medic in the British Army.
I have spoken extensively to healthcare providers at all levels about my experiences from both sides of the stretcher. What was it like to treat seriously injured people? What did it feel like when I received life-changing injuries? What happened in those first few hours? What happened when I returned to the UK? How long did my post-injury rehabilitation take?
These presentations are explicitly aimed at healthcare professionals because of the clinical content; my presentation references surgical procedures.
